Hey, I'm Chef Kris! My culinary journey started in the heart of Calabria, Italy. Studying nutrition at the University of Rhode Island, I was fascinated by the world of food- but studying abroad in the south of Italy solidified my love of fresh, local (delicious!) food. After undergrad, I completed my culinary education at Liaison College in Toronto, Ontario, as well as my holistic nutrition education at the Academy of Culinary Nutrition. I soon started my first business as a personal and private chef, specializing in families with unique dietary needs and health concerns.
Over the past decade, I've worked in nearly every culinary position imaginable- from managing a small cooking school to working as a head chef on a tall ship, to peeling pounds of butternut squash at a vegan soup production company; to fine dining at one of New England's premier yacht clubs. I've done it all- but my heart is and always will be cooking for families in the heart of their home- because I believe good food brings people together in the best of ways.
My approach to food starts with fresh ingredients- seasonal and local as much as possible, fit to your family's needs, desires and tastebuds. I take inspiration from the Mediterranean to the Middle East, Southeast Asia to the South of the USA. My goal is always to provide you with food that fills your belly, nourishes your body and feeds your soul.
With my culinary experience as well as my background in nutrition, I offer a unique approach to cooking in a way that is nourishing as well as delicious, and I have extensive experience in cooking gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian/vegan and beyond. Beyond the Kitchen:
I'm a mom of two little sous chefs, Sage and Wren (find me online at Healthy Mama Kris where I share recipes for busy moms).
When I'm not in the kitchen, spending time outside is my favorite- paddling, sailing, beaching and hiking.
As much as I love high-end cuisine, my favorite food is (not surprisingly!) brick oven pizza!
